Corned Beef and Cabbage Recipe

This popular recipe is often served on St Patrick’s Day, but I like cooking it at anytime of the year, because I love making Corned Beef sandwiches on rye with spicy mustard.

Ingredients

  • (I used) 4lbs corned beef with seasoning packet
  • 2 bay leaves (crushed)
  • 4 whole cloves (crushed)
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • 1 tsp ground coriander seed
  • 4-5 baby red potatoes quartered
  • 1 head of cabbage

Directions

  • Put the potatoes in the crock pot first and add the corned beef on top.
  • Sprinkle the bay leaves on the corned beef.
  • Sprinkle cloves, ground mustard, and coriander over the corned beef.
  • Lightly rub into meat.
  • Add 1 cup of water pour over potatoes.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
  • Quarter the cabbage, and add into crock pot the last 3 hours.

The Irish certainly got this one right and now you can make this delicious recipe by following the directions above.

Enjoy!
